Garments Of Praise Ministry started out of my story. I am a survivor of domestic abuse for 15 years. Domestic abuse whether mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, or sexual is unfortunately so prevalent that many cases never get reported. The stigma behind abuse often leads people to keep silent due to shame or guilt. Isaiah 61:3 captures the promise of God’s restoration: And provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Through my pain I worshiped. I am a worshiper called to dance to set the captives free. Free from bondage, oppression, sickness and disease. Out of my suffering God used me to write and publish two books in 2015, The Heart of a Worshiper Called To Dance and Breaking The Chains of Abuse Silent Bondage.
The Heart of A Worshiper called to dance is for those called to the ministry of dance. It gives a basic foundation, understanding, and knowledge of dance through scripture. Those who are called will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth. True worship is according to the Bible (“Truth”) and is motivated and quickened by the anointing (“Spirit”). Your worship will be done in the Spirit of Excellence, with your whole heart, out of love, purity, and oneness.
Breaking The Chains of Abuse Silent Bondage, is an inspiration for others who are, or have been in an abusive relationship. In this book, I share details about my marriage, which started out good initially, and, over time, transpired into the most painful, horrific experience imaginable.
Writing this book helped me to release inner feelings that were bottled up inside of me, which helped to facilitate my healing. During my struggle, I prayed for God to use me as a
vessel to help bring healing and deliverance to others experiencing abuse. In my heart, I knew I wasn’t alone. I have heard of countless others who are in my situation, and I wanted to be a beacon of light to help strengthen others. I am pulling back the curtain on the dark secrets of my abuse and offering hope to those caught in its painful cycle.
Though terrible, my experience ultimately made me stronger. It helped mold me into the woman I am today. No longer am I weak, timid, or afraid to stand up for myself. I am confident, strong, and wise. Abuse can leave a person very emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally disturbed. Please know that one doesn’t have to stay in that condition. Through Christ Jesus, we have the victory to overcome any obstacle that comes before us. If you find yourself in any kind of bondage, abuse or otherwise, may you ultimately find the freedom that Jesus can bring. Michelle’s story is written to bring hope, life, and healing to those who are suffering. Through her mission, she will break chains and empower women for Christ.
